Agape Wellness and Fitness' focus is to promote overall wellness; mind, body, spirit and soul! We would like to invite you to the "Live Well Live Fit" Expo!  This will be a day of fun for the whole family! 

Kicking off at 9:00 am we will have fitness demonstrations! All kinds! Level U Zumba, Circuit Training, Yoga, Tai Chi, FABulous Soul Line Dancing, BodyByKen Bootcamp Training and more! We will also have an awesome Children's play area with face painting, ceramic, crafting and a special visit from Ms. Hello Kitty!  Special musical performances by Romonta, Joselyn Best and Montreal! The Gospel Explosion

Hosts Dave Champion & Myself along side the woman of the hour Erica Still of Still Standing Productions The Gospel Explosion 757! 

 Comedian Dave Champion and I had the honor of hosting the Gospel Explosion presented by Still Standing Productions, mastermind Erica Still of FAB Soul Line Dancing & Heavenly Eats & Sweets! 

The event was bursting at the seems with positive vibes! Right up my alley! Guest mingled around and visited the various vendors present. There was everything from Origami Owl, Scensty Fragrance, to Tony's (super hip)  Ties and Tupperware. Any working Mom always appreciates Tupperware.  Many performances proved to be uplifting. Some of my favorites were of course power house vocalist Joselyn Best, Jasmine Hair & Hope Gaitling. The spectacular Mime performance and praise dances really had folks catching the holy ghost! I kid not! Talk about powerful! Oh, let's not forget the Line Dancing, Chicago Style Stepping and Zumba from my absolute favorite instructor. Candance Alexander! (She is awesome!!!) Erica started the party by doing a few demo's from her FAB Soul Line Dancing Class, and let's just say that's where the spark began!  There were a few spoken word acts, but I have to say DJ Echo was able to give his testimony and touch so many in the audience that night. He was rocked the house as the event DJ! Pretty cool guy!  All in all, I the event was super successful and I am proud of my friend Erica for bringing her vision to reality!  Anyone else psyched JLO is back on board with American Idol? No-Just me (Oh and the tra-billion Jenny from the block lovers!) I'm digging the new judges. I really like the dynamics between the three. Harry Connick Jr., who was a guest coach last season, keeps it brutally honest. (I think we may have found our new Simon!) Country crooner superstar Keith Urban charms again. He seems to thoroughly enjoy and appreciate those true artists who lay it all on the line for that AI title. Jennifer of course brings the fashion, and keeps the business side on top! The team hit the Motor City, Detroit for a little action in last nights episode. Next week their search for the next American Idol takes them to Georgia! Home state for host Ryan Seacrest.  A few months ago, my guest reporter duties with FOX Japan had me @Large in Los Angeles, California for the Season 12 American Idol Finale & Red Carpet! It was such an exciting time, as I interviewed and got to know all top 12 sweethearts! I cannot tell you my fave, but I can tell you who SAAAANG! Ms. Candice Glover! She tried out three times, finally winning the coveted title for Season 12.  Talk about never giving up! Although I didn't get a chance to speak to my favorite diva of all time, Mariah Carey, I will tell you that from where I was sitting during the viewing of the results show, I could see her up close and personal. Being the true fan that I am, I was star struck! Almost in tears...yeah, that was me. She looked immaculate, skin like a porcelain doll! Much, much smaller of course in person.

Judge Niki Minaj gave her two cents as Mr. Urban gives a shout out to our Japanese friends on the red carpet.  My face beat red after he said to me "Your  beautiful, baby!" in that super sexy Australian accent! Again, that charm thing I mentioned, he does so well. So many of your favorite stars also walked the red carpet, including past AI winners, Scott McCreery and Taylor Hicks. Even silver screen legend Anthony Hopkins made a quick appearance! Who knew?  A very pregnant Tamar Braxton, arrived a little late, but looked gorgeous!  She was adorable, waving to everyone as she scurried in. Hot Spot: Roger Brown's SWV Reunited Viewing Party! Another New Beginning!

Grammy Nominated, Triple Platinum Artist Coko of SWV. 

Now moments like these are what I live for! No one could be more excited to hear of an SWV Reunion   than me! I mean, seriously! I grew up listening to these divas turned pioneers, know every song VERBATIM! So when I got the chance to catch up with Coko at a viewing event for their new show 

SWV Reunited airing on WeTV-of course I jumped on it! I had so many questions honey! 

Roger Brown's Sports Bar & Grill hosted the event. 

Hailing from New York, Coko, LeeLee & Taj started this journey not knowing their music would be legendary.  Topping Billboard charts,  Grammy Nominations & Triple Platinum Albums.  Weak, Anything, Right Here, Can We, I mean, I can go on forever really. They defined a new generation of sisters! Sisters With Voices! Not only influential in music, but very much so in style and fashion too! So you know I asked about the nails. I addressed a rumor I heard. It was said that those nails were a result of Coko growing up in a very religious home and that was the only way she could express herself.  "I painted them all different colors and grew them just to get on my Mothers nerves!" In speaking of style, Coko looked immaculate! Beautiful and glowing, appropaitely so!

SWV decided to part ways to pursue solo careers in 1998. Coko went on to produce three solo albums including a Gospel album entitled "Grateful." She also starred in a few plays,  including the Vagina Monologues. When asked about the transition from music to acting she stated frankly "I hated it! Having to remember lines, it was alot" she said chuckling. 15 years later-it's back to the music and back to business! Releasing their latest album "I Missed Us" last year. We touched on the make up/break up of the group, and how it felt to be back together for their new show SWV Reunited. She told me it took some getting used too, as far as having the cameras rolling. Taj, Leelee and Coko really leave it all on the table for the world to see. Dealing with some hard hitting issue that include the stress of making a "Come Back",  unresolved issues, problems with management and a really big health scare for Coko!

Hot Spot: PUR LUX Lounge with Grammy Nominated Artist & Actor Mack Wilds

Grammy Nominated Artist & Actor Mack Wilds.

Always in search of the next HOT SPOT; my Alice@Large adventures brought me to PUR LUX Lounge, located in Newport News, Virginia! In addition, Grammy Nominated Artist and Actor Mack Wilds was also in town, so you know my goal was trying to find out some scoop on his rise from Staten Island to Hollywood!

Well it's safe to say, that he is one talented and focused young man! What astonishes me is his ability to cross so many borders at a young age! Very impressive! Let me give you a little list of where you many know him from? Most notable for work on "The Wire" & "90210" (definitely post code envy!) He has also appeared on "Cold Case" and "Law & Order."  "Half Nelson" was Mack's film debut, but my favorite role thus far has to be Lt. Ray Gannon, from "Red Tails."  A true story about the Tuskegee Airmen. I was honored to meet a few, so this role hit close to home for me!  George Lucas invested 58 million of his own money to bring this American story to life! Nice!

So, Yeah. About those power moves! Of course the next phase would be music? Which he has already shown to be a contender!  For his debut album "New York: A Love Story" Mack received a Grammy Nomination for  "Best Urban Contemporary Album." I was lucky enough to witness his live performance at PUR LUX Lounge, the boy's got lungs! Right before he hit the stage, we had a little small talk about his visit to Virginia and the possibility of going to Japan!  "I cannot wait to go! I am very excited!"  My response, was "Well, looks like there definitely is a tour in order!" He was in great spirits  and had a very personable air about him! Very sweet! Nothing but big smiles as he hugged and took pictures with fans. Although I didn't get to pick his brain, I was very happy to meet such a grounded, down to earth, talented young man! Very polite and very well mannered! Very much a cutie as well!

Mack Wilds you better work! You better "Own It!" I will for sure keep him on my radar as we hit Grammy Season in a few weeks!

A Night of Soul Featuring Noel Gourdin, Romonta & John Michaels

Ladies love LL? Well, ladies love R&B too, and there were plenty in the building! Last night I had the pleasure of interviewing  R&B Crooner Noel Gourdin at VA LIVE for the Night of Soul Concert! The place was packed and ready for the sweet sounds of The Chuuch Band, 757 native Romonta & headliner Noel.

Born in Boston. Bred in Mississippi. Off top, that instantly makes for interesting influences coming up! He mentioned Sam Cooke a few times, and I immediately sensed that in him. His style was very Sam Cooke, dressed in a sharp suit, very chic, very retro! He began sharing his amazing journey!  As we got into the music, I told him this would not be a Noel Gourdin interview without talking about "The River." "The River" from his first album "After My Time" put him on the map! Why was the song so infectious? "Because there is something in it for everyone, and it came from real life experiences."

No stranger to opening up about real experiences, we discussed a brief dark period he went through.  I admire Gourdin's ability to be so open! We talked about his deep depression after the Sony shake up that caused him to be with out a label. Made him question his ability.  "I kept the Faith!" Well...as Faith would have it, he has now graduated to his sophomore project and even gave us the insight on new Christmas music coming out! (Keep your eyes and ears open!) I can't wait to share his rendition of the album titled Fresh: The Definition. He joked that he would sue me, if I used his new word that described the feel of this album, so, I'll just wait for you to hear it on the video!

Noel was so kind, very laid back, very down to earth, very handsome and very real! His set, even better! He knocked out a few classic soul hits such as "Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay" and "Let's Get it On" by Marvin Gaye. Even threw a little Usher in the mix. His voice was soulful, raw and honest! Loved his live show, and look forward to seeing where he goes in his career!

 I did address a rumor! Nothing to make the tabloids, as I told him (He looked worried at first!) There is a buzz going around about new music in January 2014!  "Yes, Yes, & Yes!" said Noel.  In the mean time, he says fans can reach him on all social sites and at www.noelgourdin.com! I truly think I have met one of the great ones.  There is so much more to Mr. Noel,  I cannot wait to share the full interview! It's time for our real musicians to come back on the scene.  I don't know about you, but I'm starting with him! This is definatley "His Time."

Keeping true to ladies night, in attendance were the beautiful hard bodies of the Men with a Cause Breast Cancer Calendar Models.  Proceeds from the calendar go directly to Breast Cancer organizations in the United States! Noel Gourdin recently worked with the Susan G. Komen organization raising money for the cause in honor to two aunts diagnosed.
